Over the course of the MTL weekend we have the opportunity for 16 male and 16 female athletes to enter into the MTL Turboleague.
This is targeted at a high performance level (cause we think some of you guys will be racing the actual Superleague on the global stage one day) for athletes who will be competitive within the 4 qualifying events. You must complete the 4 qualifying events to be eligible.
The 4 qualifying events are:
Friday the 17th December:
Central Bicycle Studio Points Race (35mins)
Saturday the 18th December:
AquaRace Grand Prix Swim (1500m)
The Manawatu Mile
The marquee event or the MTL Turboleague will be The Palmy Sprint Triathlon (500m, 20km cycle, 5km run) on the evening of Saturday the 18th December.
Timing for the MTL Turboleague will be exactly the same as the MTL Championship (cumulative plus bonuses in the Points Race). Please see the MTL Championship tab for a detailed description of how the timing will work.
This change to the event has been brought about by athlete feedback.
If you would like to enter the MTL Turboleague please contact Tammy Reed (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Time to get those internal turbos tuned up and ready to race!
Le Prix de la combativité award
For athletes entered into the MTL Turboleague & who complete the Central Bicycle Studio Points Race we also have added a chance for you to win a "Most Combative Rider" jersey similar to the Le Prix de la combativité award at the Tour de France.
This award has been awarded at the Tour de France since 1952 (with some big name winners - Peter Sagan, Dan Martin & Julian Alaphilippe to name a few) so we're going to take the chance to add in some history and spice into our event!
We will have a jersey for the most combative rider in both female & male categories. The Most Combative Rider will be judged in all age groups by 3 experienced members of the local cycling community.
Just remember you will need to participate in this event safely. Any dangerous behaviour and our judging panel will exclude you from the award!
